HISinOne is built upon consolidated technological and organizational foundations and is tightly integrated. Its main technological characteristics can be summarized as follows:
- HISinOne is based on a sophisticated data model that centralizes shared data and organizational structures (e. g. people, facilities). Data is collected only once, saved in a central database and can thus be accessed anywhere at any time, including third-party-systems (e. g. e-learning-platforms, library systems etc.).
- HISinOne ships with pre-fabricated configurations that cover a broad range of practical cases with little need for additional customization.
- A unified management of identities, roles and authorizations enables every relevant stakeholder to access personalized IT-services and relevant data. By using single-sign-on technologies, users don't need to remember a multitude of access codes.
- HISinOne provides a service-oriented architecture and makes use of well-established open source technologies. It is independent from platforms and operating systems. It contains open interfaces and interchange formats as well as import/export-functions, increasing the interoperability, longevity and security of the application.
- Configuration is simplified with the integration of web-based configuration tools that are easy to use.
- Migration of existing data is made easy with integrated validation tools and migration wizards.
In addition to these aspects of technological integration, HIS reorganized its product spectrum and consolidated available resources and capabilities into one system, thus being able to offer one integrated application that fits all university requirements.
